This effect can only be activated if there are no Effect Monster face-up in your Monster Zone. (It can be activated if the only Effect Monsters on your field are in face-down Defense Position.)

This card's effect that Special Summons a non-Effect Monster from the Graveyard when that monster is destroyed by battle or card effect is a Trigger Effect that activates in the hand or Graveyard. (If a non-Effect Monster in your Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect, this effect targets 1 of those destroyed monsters. Banishing Tenyi Spirit - Shthana from your hand or Graveyard is the cost to activate this effect, and it can be activated during the Damage Step.)
Special Summoning the targeted monster and destroying 1 monster on your opponent's field do not happen simultaneously.
You must always apply the part of the effect that Special Summons the targeted monster, but you can choose not to apply the part of the effect that destroys 1 monster on your opponent's field.
