This card's effect that prevents you from taking battle damage less than or equal to the total Link Ratings of all "Marincess" monsters in your Graveyard × 1000 is a Trigger Effect that activates in the Graveyard. (It does not target. Banishing this card from your Graveyard is the cost to activate this effect.)
This effect counts the total Link Ratings of all "Marincess" monsters in your Graveyard at the time its Chain Link resolves, and prevents you from taking battle damage less than or equal to that total × 1000 for the rest of the turn. (Even if the number of "Marincess" Link Monsters in your Graveyard changes afterward, the amount of battle damage this effect prevents does not change.)
