It also activates during the Damage Step.
Even if multiple "Gunkan" monsters are sent to the Graveyard in the same Chain, this effect will only activate once after the Chain has resolved. When you activate the effect, tell your opponent which "Gunkan" monster's being sent to the Graveyard you are responding to.
When this effect resolves, your opponent pays Life Points exactly even to the monster's DEF in the Graveyard. Afterwards, you can apply the ● bulleted effect. (These are not treated as having happened simultaneously.)
