This effect resolves by Special Summoning the targeted monster with its effects negated, making it the new attack target, and performing damage calculation.

This card's effect that adds it from your Graveyard to your hand is a Trigger Effect that activates in the Graveyard. (It does not target, and cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)
